Fast Overnight before the Sugar Sensitivity Test
Day 1: You will take 50g glucose load test after 8 hours of fasting

Today, you’re testing your blood sugar response with 50g of glucose powder—yes, straight-up sugar on purpose. Why? Because this gives us a baseline to measure how your body handles a pure sugar challenge in a controlled setting. Think of it like a stress test for your metabolism.
Day 1 Instruction
- Begin the day with Glucose Load Test after water fasting for 8+ hours
- dilute 50g glucose powder from FreshTest in a 10 oz glass of water
- Make sure your baseline fasting glucose level is in range right before testing (70-100 mg/dL) *For people with diabetes, your CGM glucose readings can be between 70 and 130 mg/dL before testing products.
- Please consume within 5 minutes
What You’re Learning: Metabolic Flexibility 🧠
Metabolic flexibility is your body’s ability to quickly clear glucose from your blood and switch between fuel sources (like sugar vs. fat). A smooth and moderate glucose curve = your body is handling it like a champ. A big spike that stays elevated = your body may be struggling to respond effectively.
Interpreting Your Results: Based on Your Spike Metrics 📊
- Spike Level is the peak glucose level after the drink relative to your baseline fasting glucose levels. It tells you how high your sugar went but does not tell you the full impact like slow rising or fast rising. Moreover it doesn't give you a full picture on how long your glucose levels stay elevated. A shorter, smaller curve = better glucose control. A wider, longer curve = more strain on your system.
- Your Sugar Impact Factor is based on the Area Under the Curve (AUC)—basically, how big and long your spike was over time. If your Sugar Impact Factor is low, it means your body processes carbs more efficiently—an early sign of good metabolic flexibility. A high or prolonged spike? That could mean your system needs more support in handling carbs.
Everyone’s Different 🧬
You might spike higher or lower than someone else even with the exact same sugar dose. That’s the power of personalization. Some people clear glucose fast, others take longer—and this test helps uncover your unique metabolic fingerprint.
If your body struggles to process sugar, it may also be holding on to fat—especially belly fat. That’s why poor metabolic flexibility often goes hand-in-hand with stubborn weight gain or difficulty slimming down, even if you eat well.
